I think this is a pretty solid 83 show. I'm kind of picky when it comes to the 80's, but after watching this on youtube last night, I find this to be one of the stronger shows from 83', Jerry is engaged & pretty energetic, as is the rest of the band. Phil is killin' it. Jerry's lines are precise, & well placed, & the music gels nicely, it's definitely not an off night. If you watch the video, Jerry is no where's near nodding, or mumbling, he is quite conscious. It's not an epic, must have, but it's an enjoyable, pretty well played show.

Jerry is certinly on the nod tonight. Missed vocals, late entrys limited energy, please give that guy some pizza. Recording is fantastic 5 star. But this is really a just goin through the motions show. Sorry but it's true.

The sound is a bit hollow compared to a board, but it has a nice "in the hall" quality. The show is very good, not over the top, good energy, not rushed when it shouldn't be, delving into weirdness on Althea right now that I love. This is one of my favorite 80's shows so far!

I was out in California for a month-long stint volunteering for Cesar Chavez and the UFW in La Paz and came early to catch these shows. Nearly penniless (I had purchased my tickets in advance), I was taken in by a group of heads who let me sleep on the floor of their over-crowded hotel room. I had Christmas dinner at a nearby mission and caught the entire new year's run. This being my 20th birthday and 'Cold Rain and Snow' being an all-time favorite, it was, for me, one of the most memorable of all-time.

also I like the Althea, West LA, He's gone,Scarlet and Black Peter (fitting for the times) A culmination of the big runs over the coarse of the year. Spring,Summer,Fall and Dec shows ripped all year.
Never been been at this gem of a spot but let me guess its a perfect little auditorium in SF. I said it before I can't imagine seeing them 83-84 in small venues. WOW must of been out of control. This is right up my alley late 83 small venue I give it a 5.
All time favorite shows to be at were the Marin Oct 83 and Spring 84 shows and Hult Center in OR. Lucky were the Few.
Love the recording nice Job.

This is a review on the recording only as Ive not heard the whole show. Heres another wicked Silberman recording. I cant believe no one has reviewed this beast. Theres a PA problem with the kick drums during Cold Rain, but its taken care of by the end of the song. Check out Phils bass at the beginning of TLEO MASSIVE! The recording quality alone makes this worth a download. You might throw your soundboard in the trash after hearing this one! Wish all the early 80s stuff sounded this good. JY
